Rose – A Coral Beauty

Greetings, my friends! Have you noticed that the color coral has been a fan favorite in home decor lately? When I found this end table at a local thrift store, coral came to mind — a perfect accent to the existing brass straight-line handle on the drawer.

I was a little ambitious and totally forgot to take a “before” pic, so I snapped this quick image with my cell phone of the drawer.

Rose was boring to begin with but I just LOVE her shape! Her modern, sleek styling is unique for a vintage piece. I chose a light color in the coral family and painted about three coats of a custom mix paint using Behr Blushing Apricot.

After some light distressing, I finished the table off with a coat of Annie Sloan Clear Wax (applied with a brush and buffed smooth with a dry cloth).

After distressing and waxing, the piece really came to life! This is my favorite part about restoring vintage pieces! It’s really something special when you can find just the right balance between the old and new. If you were to see this piece in person, it really does look like it was painted this coral color some 50 years ago! I love her!

I will be posting Rose for sale on Craigslist shortly and will update this post when I do so. If you live in the metro Phoenix area and are interested, please shoot me an email.

In other news, did you see my Facebook post today? Well, if you didn’t, let me fill you in. I scored this totally awesome vintage poker table from the Salvation Army today and I just can’t wait to spruce it up!!!

Rose has been posted on craigslist here.

Lots of love,
Mary
